More than 1,000 Crawford & Company employees helped others around the world during a wide variety of service projects undertaken on September 29 as part of the Company's fourth annual Global Day of Service (GDoS).

"For the fourth year, we proudly continued our tradition of volunteerism, providing service in our communities around the world," said Crawford President and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey T. Bowman.

The projects planned by volunteers in more than 20 countries helped organizations ranging from food banks and orphanages to domestic violence shelters and senior centers. Among the specific activities were:

  • Making donations and assisting with food distribution through the Bellevue Food Bank at World Impact Network in Bellevue, WA
  • Repairing facilities and providing activities for children at SOS Children's Villages in Coconut Creek, FL
  • Restoration and environmental improvements at the Ecological Restoration Volunteer Workday in Schaumburg, IL
  • Collecting, packing and distributing donations to the Bank of Foods in Madrid and Bilbao, Spain
  • Packing medical emergency packages for children around the world through UNICEF in Copenhagen, Denmark

  • Across Canada, numerous projects ranged from providing donations of food to children and families to planting trees in conservation soil
  • Volunteers in San Jeronimo, Aculco, Mexico painted cleaned and made repairs to the Programa Casa Hogan Para Madres Adolescentes Sedac I.A.P, then presented toys, shared a meal, and played with the children at the facility
  • Volunteers in London gathered for a morning coffee fundraiser to support Cancer research

Company employees also served their communities individually if they were not able to join a group project.

From Crawford's headquarters city of Atlanta, about 120 volunteers assisted senior citizens with yard maintenance and minor home repairs as well as one-on-one activities including computer training, reading, line dancing, manicures and lunch service at a neighborhood senior center.  Donations of food, clothing, school supplies, and household items were also made to the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children.

Reports from service ambassadors who coordinated service projects around the world are still coming in, so stay tuned for more photographs and reports to be shared soon.
